Remember Me (Reimagined)

‘Remember Me’ is a song that was originally featured on our first record ‘Protagonist’ way back when. It remains one of our favorite songs to this day and was our live closer for ages. We set out to craft a tune that we felt could be timeless and would compel us to sharpen our songwriting chops at the time. To be honest, there isn’t a huge backstory behind it. Ben had written some music and I took it away to stew over it for a bit. It took a couple of weeks but the first line that hit me was ‘loved and lost and fell from grace’ and it went from there. I really wanted to write something romantic and honest especially given how I had been feeling at the time personally.

For the reimagined version, Ben had come up with the idea of doing the song justice by revamping the mix and adding live bass and drums which admittedly, I was apprehensive about since I loved the original and thought its inherent imperfections belied its charm. It then occurred to me that the song was a favorite of a good friend of ours, Carlos who we recently lost in 2023 and is still missed today. In his honor and memory, this version of Remember Me goes out to Carlos and all those souls we’ve all lost but will never forget. - VV
