RITUALZ
MIMIC
MIMIC, the new album by Mexico City’s RITUALZ is out now on Re:Mission Entertainment on digital and CD. MIMIC is a collection of songs RITUALZ has covered since the inception of the project, all re-recorded for this release. A display of JC Lobo’s broad musical influences, the covers on this album range from tracks by 80s synth-gods Depeche Mode to the late XXXTENTACION going through deep cuts by Marilyn Manson, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Nine Inch Nails and Industrial/Witchy versions of hit singles by Lenny Kravitz and Spanish pop icon Miguel Bosé. Much like its predecessor, RADICAL MACABRO, this album is an exploration of RITUALZ’s sound into heavier and darker territory while staying true to its dark electronic roots.
The album’s art features photos of JC as a young goth growing up in the suburbs as life started revolving around dark music as a means of rebellion. A testament to life as a freak and an outsider, MIMIC is a conversation between past and present, and the first of two releases commemorating fifteen years of RITUALZ.
