Reptile King
Vitreous

Two songs of my one-man-band's debut album "Goddess over Darkness and Light", which is due for later this year.

I started writing songs in 2017, having in mind the band where I was playing the keyboard at that point. Unfortunately, the band was soon going to dissolve, entering the pantheon of for-the-time-being-defunct-groups, so that was that.

Alone and forsaken, trapped in the numeric bowels of my computer’s hard disc, my songs would keep on haunting me at nights. In lack of a fitting musical outlet through which I could get my compositions out of my head and into the realm of the physical, I decided to record the whole thing on my own.

Alas, there was a threefold problem: Although I would consider myself a somewhat confident keyboardist, I am horrendous on the bass, hopeless on the guitar, and the only times I got behind the drum kit in my old band were because that was where the beer was stacked. Instead of honing my skills on these instruments and ending up recording the whole damn thing at the age of 97 or what have you, I went the more feasible road of emulating the band sound that I was going for through meticulous, and sometimes tedious, synth programming.

Thematically, this album delves into the feeling of losing control over one’s life. Now about the two songs that you will find here in particular: "Vitreous" deals with the erosing of individuality and loss of identity caused by the omnipresence of digital media and their underlying business schemes. (The fact that I am using social media to promote my music is not lost on me.) "End of Days" is about war and it's impact on people living in wartorn areas - from the disruption of everyday life to the numbening influence of war propaganda.

Please enjoy and thank you for listening. And if you really enjoyed the songs, feel free to follow me on Bandcamp. There will be more further down the road.
