Polyop
Elektrop
A frenetic acid-electro track from the audio-visual act Polyop, heard in various forms in their live shows over the years, finally gets its official release. Made with a mix of software and code, the video features a trio of alien underlings letting loose.
Accompanying the track is a video made using Polyop’s custom software Hedron, that powers their real-time visuals. Visual artist Alex Kempton's endearing fascination with bugs and their behaviour spawned the mesmerising visuals of alien creatures, blending insect-like traits with surreal, otherworldly flair. To use Hedron, Alex has to utilise his programming skills, adding restrictions to the creative process which is one factor leading to Polyop’s unique aesthetic.
The video is a diorama-style look at the advanced space colony 'Junkers,' a well explored motif in Polyop’s live visuals. This time we see them in a more playful context, dancing in what almost feels like a 90s era MTV music video.
