This is a song about self-empowerment.
I was thinking about metamorphosis and specifically how it is supposed to be dramatic and impactful: the ugly duckling, the hungry caterpillar, a phoenix from the ashes.

At the time I was undergoing my own metamorphosis, but it was an ordinary flowering, an incremental non-obvious transformation. I wanted to embolden and celebrate that.
I recorded this at home, just me and a piano.
