INTRODUCTION & BACKGROUND

Shuttermouth is punk! Yes, that's who we are. The three of us girls:

• Susi on vox and guitar
• Bee on drums n vox
• Vi (me) on bass n vox

We're from Wiltshire, UK, and we want everyone to hear what we're saying! I suppose our approach to making music is spontaneity; we tend to write lyrics and music at the same time. One of us will say "what about that idiot?" and kerrang! we suddenly have mayhem and music and something to shout about. Having said that, though, we do have a bunch of songs that have feeling… more on them later. We haven't really been playing music together very long, a few years really, it started in college, although we get together as often as we can. Work, it just keeps getting in the way!!! Such a drag! Still, at least it keeps us in beer money (or funds for strings, skins, etc) and we have a friendly farmer who lets us practice in a barn, miles from anyone lol.

MUSICAL IDENTITY & CURRENT WORK

We've actually written a bunch of songs and we're really pleased with them. We've got this story going on in our album, so Sushi Riot is separate, if you see what I mean. To be honest, our album is sort of about us, or close by. It's a punk romance lol cos even though we like to make a noise, there are also some important topics we want to shout about. To be a little more clear, we are strong supporters of diversity and inclusivity, even though we're three white girls in southern England, or maybe because! So the album is an unapologetic journey through our lives, our thoughts and ideas, through a somewhat rosy lens, but that's ok, cos we love life, and live love lol, and we want people to feel it with us. All we need to do is record the songs properly lol. We have rough recordings when we've tried recording our gigs on the phone. They're not very good, not how we want to go down in history. So we need to get some studio time and do it properly. It's exciting, the prospect of recording an album, and we're going to do it as soon as we have enough money, which means we need to spend more time at work, which means less time at play, groan.

LATEST RELEASE

Sushi Riot is the one song we've recorded so far. We were boosted to actually commit something. It is inspired by a recent visit to a sushi restaurant in our town and just appeared out of nowhere. Susi said something funny and we both said yeah, and then we scribbled on napkins this fun little song! Obviously we didn't make the music at the same time. I think the other folk in there might have complained lol. We'd like to shout out to Jonz for shouting on the single! This happened because Susi was ill, she had some nasty throat infection and sounded like death (metal lol). Jonz was hanging out with us that day and offered so we thought why not. And that's how he ended up on the single with us.
